Aloha

Happy June 30th Monday!

Time for

The Pink Elephant Challenge #257

This week is a THEME Challenge  ---

 Anything Goes!

That's right, you can make any kind of papercraft your heart desires!

I went all summer on mine:

SPIES:
STAMPS: Surfboard & Sentiment (Taylored Expressions).
PAPER: White cardstock.  DP - Recollections chevron.
INK: Rose, Tangelo, & Black Tuxedo (Memento); Turquoise &  (SEI).
EXTRAS: Rapsberry sequins (Paper Sweeties).

Sorry for a not so good photo.  I'm having camera issues.  Guess I'm going to have to take it to the camera "doc" soon.

I played around with a surfboard stamp from Taylored Expressions.  I wanted to create a flower but it was going to be bigger than I wanted for a card.  And, yes, the sentiment was designed to look drippy and smudged.  I did double stamp it, once in turquoise and once in black for a little duo tone effect.  I added the blue chevron on the bottom for a little water effect too.

So, let loose and get creative for Anything Goes!  And don't forget to check out the rest of the Design Team's projects.  Super cute stuff!

Freedom

Happy Sunday!

It's the last Sunday in June!

Maybe it's just me but June seemed to creep by.  Let's hope July will do the same!  This week is a holiday week in the U.S. with Independence Day is coming up on Friday!  A big summer vacation week for much of our nation.  So here's hoping everyone stays safe and blessed!
And --
This week at
Cupcake Inspirations,
we have a great challenge
to go right along
with all the hoopla and fireworks!

This week is our THEME Week
(see photo below)!

And our wonderful sponsor

this week is:

Thank you so much!

Prize:  They are offering our randomly selected winner one of their featured stamp sets!

Theme:  CELEBRATE!

Inspirational Photo courtesy of Williams Sonoma

My Creative Time was very generous in giving the Design Team members some fabulous stamps to showcase in our projects this week.

Thank you!

So stop by the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge Blog and check out all the rest of the DT's projects.  There are two sets we are sampling:

"And Then Some Stamp Set"

and
"Main Street"

I used the building stamps from "Main Street" on my card:

SPIES:

STAMPS: Buildings - "Main Street"(My Creative Time); Sentiment and fireworks-"Stamp America" (Cloud9Design by Colorbok).
PAPER: Red, navy and white cardstock; DP - Americana (Pebbles).
INK: Versamark; Moonlight White Brilliance (Memento); Nautical Blue (Memento); Black and gold emboss powder.
EXTRAS: Star stencil (Simon Says); Star dies (Papertrey Ink); Banner Die (Reverse Confetti); Wood veneer star (Simon Says); Red flower sequins (Paper Sweeties); 3D stickie dots.

I chose the "Main Street" set so I could make a cityscape fireworks card.  I thought it would be perfect with the inspiration photo and theme. My first thought was red, white and blue buildings, but then I thought making the buildings black would give more of a nighttime effect.

This was the first time using the star stencil with my Memento Dew Drop inks.  I think it came out really well.

Paper Sweeties Card Class

Ok, so I've been hoarding my projects again!  There's not enough hours in the day ---STILL!  I keep asking for someone to change that but it just hasn't happened yet.  LOL

Easter Cards --Paper Sweeties
March Class 2014

For the past few months, I've been attending a monthly card class sponsored by Debbie Marcinkiewicz, owner and founder of Paper Sweeties.  She is also the creator of The Shabby Tea Room challenge blog.  Debbie and I met online via blogs and card challenges and discovered we live just down the road from one another (she in Chapel Hill, me in Cary).  We exchanged emails and she graciously invited me to her monthly card class, which is a blast!  We get to use some of her monthly new release goodies to make cards and also do a little shopping on the side!  And, she is a wonderful host and I've met several of her very nice friends.

The card here on the left was made in class around Easter time. Isn't this the cutest bunny card?  The template is from The Cutting Cafe.  Stamps are from Paper Sweeties.  So adorable!

Bunny Card - April Class

If you haven't heard of Paper Sweeties, you need to stop by the shop and the blog and check it out.  If you are old enough to remember playing with paper dolls in your childhood, Paper Sweeties stamps are created off of that concept.                                         Happy Everything- April Class

There are coordinating paper doll stamps and dies and lots of accessories to go with them.  They are super affordable too!

Here are the newest cards from this month's card class. June Release features "Splish Splash Set" (left) and "Showering You With Love", below.  Too too cute!

So go check out Paper Sweeties!

Tropical Nursing

SPIES:
STAMPS: Sentiment (Lawn Fawn).
PAPER: White, brown, black and silver cardstock.  DP - From stash.
INK: Tuxedo Black (Memento). Sharpie fine marker.
EXTRAS: Scrub Shirt Template (StampnDesignStore); Small circle punch (Sizzix); oval punch (EK Success); triangle die (Spellbinders);

I've been meaning to post this card and for a couple days.  I made this card for the Hubs for Father's Day.  He's an ER nurse, a big Jimmy Buffet fan, and beachy guy.  He also likes switching it up some and wearing masculine print scrub shirts to work.  There are not a lot of places out there who make print scrubs for men.  I have made him some in the past.  I did find a  online in Hawaii who makes Hawaiian/tropical scrub shirts and ordered him a couple for Father's Day.

So I figured what better card for him than a scrub shirt card.  Well....just like in the scrub world, in the card making world there are very few scrub shirt card templates.  In fact, I could only find one place:  Stamp-n-Design Store.  The template I bought came with a box tempate to go with the scrub shirt template in a set and with a nurses hat template to adorn the top of the box.  Along with them came instructions on how to make the stethoscope and pocket.

This is my first attempt at it and of course, I didn't start it til ---- Father's Day.  Lucky for me he worked the night before so it gave me the morning to do it.  I enlarged the pattern a bit to make it a 4x5 card instead of a 3x3.  My pocket is not as nice as I'd hoped but then again, I was rushing.  I'm thinking this may be a popular card shape for his colleagues and I may need to invest in some medical device dies (stethoscope, needle, beadpan).  lol

Here is my card
using the Carousel digi
from the "Magic Carnival" Set:

SPIES:
STAMPS: Carousel image & Sentiment (DeasyDesigns);
PAPER: White, cotton candy, lime green, grass green cardstock.  DP - Green polka dot (Frances Meyers); Pink polka dot (Recollections).
INK: Copics.
EXTRAS: Party Banner Die (My Favorite Things); Banner die (Reverse Confetti); pink chevron ribbon (Pink Posh); tiny bow die (Paper Sweeties); white frick frack ribbon; green striped ribbon; green polka dot ribbon; white/pink chevron ribbon; green flower gems; Stickles crystal.

I had a lot of fun coloring this image.  I also paper pieced some of the roof and base for some added depth.  I stickled the horses to bling them up a bit (the photo makes them look a little funky) and added some blingy flower gems to make it more whimsical.

Just Beachy Dad

Happy Wednesday!

Hope you are having a great week in the good ole summertime!

I have a couple Father's Day cards I haven't posted yet ---

SPIES:
STAMPS: Beach chairs image (Deep Red); Sun-Color & Sunshine Set (Simon Says); Sentiment (Raisin Boat).
PAPER: Kraft card base; Turquoise cardstock; DP - Beach Boardwalke (Carta Bella).
INK: Copics & Blicks on Image; Tuxedo Black (Memento).

EXTRAS: Brown cord; polka dot emboss folder (Cuttelbug); Enamel Dots.

It's been a busy week here.  We are trying to "spring/summer" clean out our closets and things for a yard sale later in the summer.  Add to that some painting and other minor domestic improvements and throw in a little pool time and watching some World Cup action!  Very busy!

Anyway, this card I sent to my Dad in WV.  He loves the beach and has not been there for several years, so I thought I'd take it to him in a little way.
