Sweet Thanks

Happy Monday!

Hope your weekend was wonderful!  Mine was full of family and fun.  Presently I'm on a two week beach vacation in South Carolina.  I can't remember the last time we had a real vacation, much less a two week one!  But after spending the last 3-1/2 months contending with a horrible illness, it's truly needed and appreciated.

So my blog posts for the next two weeks will be created while lounging on the balcony of our condo listening to the waves of the Atlantic crash onto the shore!  Can there be any other life really?  I think I could blog this way forever!

But I digress.

It's Monday and time for a new challenge at 2 Cute Ink!

In the Pink Halloween

Happy Saturday!

It's unusual for me to post on Saturday, I know.  I had a card that I made for Tag Your It #8, but in the midst of packing for vacation, finishing cards and posting cards, I got confused! Not hard for me to do sometimes these days.  I blame it on "menopause brain"!  LOL

Anyway, I was also going to put it in the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers Challenge House of Cards monthly challenge and Addicted to CAS Vellum challenge.  I bought a bunch of Stamp Fairy digis before she went out of business and this ballerina trick or treater was one of my favorites.  She is so cute!  Don't know if you can see it well, but I put pink tulle across her skirt after coloring it.  I paper pieced her top and the bag.  I wanted the whole card to be soft and girlie. The pink plaid on the tag is old vellum paper from my stash.
SPIES:
STAMPS: Mimi Halloween (Stamp Fairy).
PAPER: White cardbase.  Grey DP (Recollections); Pink plaid vellum.
INK: Copics on mage.
EXTRAS: Sentiment die (Papertrey Ink); Tag die (Reverse Confetti); pink tulle; pink enamel dots.

Celestial Friendship -- The Challenge #17

Good Morning!  Hope you had a wonderful Fall weekend (if you are in the Northern Hemisphere) --- a nice Spring one if you are not!

Wherever you may be, it's time for another new
Every two weeks we bring you a new sketch and a new color palette to try.
Use the sketch, use the colors OR use both --- whatever you prefer.

Stop by the blog too and check out the rest of the team's fabulous projects for some added inspiration.  Then, come join us and share your projects.
We love having you play along!
My card ---
SPIES:
STAMPS: Sentiment (My Favorite Things); Large shooting star (Michaels $1 Bin); Small stars (Simon Says).
PAPER: White card base.  Watercolor paper.  Plum and black cardstock; Orange vellum.
INK: Black Soot Distress Paint(Ranger Ink); Purple, orange and crumb paint dabbers ( Snow white acrylic paint. Versamark ink; white emboss powder.
EXTRAS: Tab die (Taylored Expressions); Crop-a-dile hold punch; eyelet die (Reverse Confetti); kraft twine.

I used both the sketch and the colors from this week.  I decided to try out the Galaxy technique (tutorial).  You can also find it at The Friday Mashup this week as part of their challenge.  Any time I get to paint, I feel like a kid again!  I need to use them more often.  One could derive from that statement that I miss being a kid.  Eh, not really.  I just miss painting more.  It's been on my "list" to do more of, but I guess what I need to put on the "list" first is more time in order to paint.

Anyway, I digress.  I thought The Challenge colors would be great to try this technique with and I looove my end result.  I actually did two different squares (backup for flub ups), but I stuck with the first attempt.  And I just happened to have that fabulous sentiment about friends and stars, and then remembered the shooting star stamp also --- all perfect!  I tried to keep the card background simple to not detract from my "painting", so I used some orange vellum and kept the base white.  I mounted the painting on black cardstock and then on plum cardstock also to bring out the purples.  My kraft color is the kraft twine.  Those are paper eyelets from the eyelet die that comes with a tag die from Reverse Confetti. I rounded out the look with three candy dots.

Don't Ask What Day It Is...

Well, here's a surprise!  I have another post for today and not for a DT challenge...

SPIES:
STAMPS: Birdbrain Flower pot chick Digi(From the Heart); Sentiment Birdbrain Birthday Candle (From The Heart).
PAPER: White and teal cardstock. DP -Park Bench (Fancy Pants) - paper pieces on digi image flowers and pot.
INK: Copics on Digit.  Teal green  (Hampton Art); Crushed Curry (Stampin Up); Blue Denim  (Ranger Ink Distress Ink).
EXTRAS: Candy dot (Stampin Up); Sponges.

I love these little feathered guys at From The Heart!  Too Adorable!  The challenge "twist" this week was "Use the Sponge Technique".  I haven't done it in a long while and so thought I'd refresh my memory.  I love how it turned out.  I originally had sponged the middle of a one layer card but hadn't thought through the sentiment totally.  I should have printed out the sentiment then sponged.  You live and you learn!  LOL  So, I laid out my sentiment and printed it out and just adhered the sponged section to it, then added the framed image.  I also paper pieced the larger flowers and the pot rim on the digi image.

Super Bird-Day Blessings!
