Dad - The Challenge 70

Happy Monday!

Come play in our new challenge
at
The Challenge!

As you see,
this week is the last week of the month
so
it's time for our
Masculine Inspiration Challenge!

I looked at the plane and the metal for my inspiration---

I created my plane front using zigzag circle dies(My Favorite Things), a banner die (Lil Inker Designs) and silver brads.  I cut them and the stitched frame (Lil' Inkers Designs) from mirror cardstock.  I matted the frame over a triangle embossed (Cuttlebug) white back.  The 'dad' sentiment is from metal letters.

Check out all the Design Team's masculine projects and leave them some blog love!

Hello Spring

There's been a lot of rainbows  and rainbow colors on cards lately and so as I was playing around with the Happy Spring stamp set, I decided to use rainbow colors with my distress inks.  I chose two at a time, smooshed on my craft mat, spritzed with water and then stamped my wreath stamp on them.  I think it's pretty cool how they turned out --- some swirly rainbow circles.  I inked the sentiment in black on top and matted them on black and added strips of color in the background.  Topped it off with a couple flowers inked up and green enamel dots.

Paper Sweeties April 2016 Release Sneak Peeks!

Happy Thursday!
Today the Paper Sweeties Design Team are giving you  sneak peeks at what is new for April
in the Paper Sweeties Boutique!

YAY!

These new products will be available beginning tomorrow, Friday, April 15th!

I thought this super adorable Happy Spring set would make a really cute whimsical wedding card ---

I versamarked some gold paper and then embossed it with gold emboss powder and cut it with the matching sweet cuts die.  Then, I stamped the flowers and bow with Versamark and heat embossed them gold also.  I cut the banner and heat embossed flowers gold onto it also before adhering the wreath and flowers to it.  I stamped the sentiment in black Versafine, heat embossed it with clear powder and colored the heart with Copics.  I used an emboss folder to emboss the card base and then stamped the other sentiment to the bottom.  It wasn't exactly what I envisioned at first but I like the end result.

Now stop by all my Paper Sweeties Design teammates and see the creative ways they've used this new set!

Paper Sweeties Plan Your Life Series - April 2016!

I am thrilled to be joining some of my PS Design Teammates on the PS Planner Series Team!  I've had planners but not like what is now trending nor have I tried combining stamping with planners until now.  I'm using the Paper Sweeties Digital Planner Calendar for my planner.

Here is my digital planner:

I had a blast making up my April planner.  I used the color combo on the PS pre-printed planner sheet. I also decided to go with the "April Showers, Brings May Flowers" theme...which I will continue next month for May (spoiler alert). I used the boots and umbrella and rain drops(somewhere I've lost a raindrop) from the Showering You With Love Stamp set and Sweet Cuts.  I colored them with Copics.  I used the banner die also from Paper Sweeties and cut banners from washi tape.

This month's planner stamps are "appointments" and I just so happened to have my annual physical set later this month, which means tests had to be done beforehand.  So, I used the stethoscope stamp (part of this month's set) not only for my doc appt, but also for my mammogram (pink stethoscope) and bloodwork (red stethoscope).

The heart with cross in it is also part of this month's set and I decided to use it as a little dedication to my dad, who was a minister.  This past Monday, Aprill 11th, marked the one year anniversary of his death, so it's been kind of a tough week for me and my family.

Today, however, is a day we will celebrate for it is my youngest son, Ben's 22nd birthday!  We will be spending the afternoon and evening with him.  He loves to Frolf (frisbee golf) so that's what he has chosen to do today, along with a nice dinner out and a little shopping.

I also used the washing machine and dog stamp from this month's set.  That washing machine is just too cute!

As you see, it's spring cleaning time at the Salkeld's! LOTS needed in this area since half of the past year I spent helping my mom after my dad's passing and her hip replacement surgery.  Now it's time to get our place cleaned up before the nasty heat and humidity comes with the summer in North Carolina.

So that's my first attempt at incorporating stamps/dies and planners.  My only problem is once I plan out a month, Murphy's Law comes knocking at our door and rips it to shreds!  LOL

Now check out the Paper Sweeties Planner Team projects
for some more inspiration!

Celebrate - The Challenge #68

Happy Monday!

Time for a new challenge
at

As you see, it's a color challenge this week!

Love that color combo!
That photo also reminds me of Mary Engelbreit products.

Check out how all the Design Team used those beautiful colors:

Make sure to leave each one of my fabulous teammates and our guest designers some blog love!  We love comments too!

For my card I did some watercoloring, stenciling and sponging ---
I finally was able to watch all the stenciling videos in the Stamp Nation Stenciling class and decided to do some myself.  I stenciled on top of my watercolored background and then I moved the stencil around a bit adding some extra little squared circles inside some of the larger ones.

I used Mustard Seed, Mowed Lawn, Peacock Feathers and Picked Raspberries distressed inks for the watercoloring, the sponging through the stencil and also to create paper for the butterflies.  The top layer of the butterflies is an ombre effect. The sentiment, Celebrate Artsy and stencil, Square Dance from Stamplorations.  If the sentiment looks a little messy, it's suppose to be.  ;) The butterflies are Impression Obsession and the banner is Paper Sweeties.  I finished off the card with a few silver sequins.

I had a blast using this bright color combo!  Now it's your turn to 'WOW' us and link up your color inspired project in the Inlinkz on Lesley's blog!

Thinking of You - The Challenge #67

Happy Monday!

Well, it's almost over, I'm sooo late with my post and card this week!

I had family in and out last week to visit.  There was lots of eating, visiting, playing with my 2 yr old niece, and a little March Madness (Go Tarheels), so not much room for stamping!

But, better late than never,
so here is the new challenge for this week
at
The Challenge:

Check out all the Design Team's projects,
fabulous as always!

Monthly Featured Designer --  Greta Hess from ggnursecreations
Weekly Guest Designer---Christine from Poppaea Cards

Here is my card --

I decided to flip the sketch for my card.  I used flower stamps from Simon Says Spring Flowers set. I stamped them with versamark and heat set with white emboss powder.  Then painted them with my Twinkling H20s and fussy cut them. I die cut some brown woodgrain paper and stamped and embossed the stems.  I stamped the sentiment with some Rich Cocoa ink on turquoise cardstock.
